Description :
I-Kul is a sterile solution for ophthalmic use.
Pharmacology :
Phenylepherine HCL in Odokul solution is an alpha-receptor sympathetic agonist used in local ocular disorders because of its vasoconstrictor action. It is used primarily as a decongestant. It exhibits rapid and moderately prolonged action to whiten the eye. It usually produces no or minimal side effects after topical application of few drops. It has better corneal penetration and hence it is effective in lower concerntration. Naphazoline is the common name for 2-(1-naphthylmethyl)-2-imidazoline hydrochloride. It is a sympathomimetic agent with marked alpha adrenergic activity. It is a powerful vasoconstrictive agent with a rapid action in reducing swelling when applied to mucous membrane. It acts on alpha-receptors in the arterioles of the conjunctiva to produce constriction, resulting in decreased congestion. Naphazoline belongs to the imidazoline class of sympathomimetics.
